Richie commenced working life in 1957 with British Steel Corporation, on the construction of Ravenscraig Steel Complex, and qualified as an Electrical Engineer, gaining his HND in electrical and electronic engineering. In 1965 he joined the electronics industry to work with Honeywell computers as their systems engineer, and eventually headed up the computer test equipment department. In 1984 he moved to NDT Company as their regional service manger supporting the steel and oil industries. He was later approached in 1989 to join the Biomedical Division of 3M as UK service manager, eventually promoted to plant manager. Richie took up an appointment as general manager of AorTech in 1994 before Joining Omega in 2004 as the Operations Manager. Richie was responsible for the setting up of the manufacturing operation.
He has over 20 years management experience in the healthcare business, with a focus on cost efficient manufacturing of specialised medical devices (high volume disposable products). Additionally he has experience in people and factory management, with 3M Healthcare and AorTech and in first line, and general management responsibilities and for overall manufacturing, plant and facilities. Richie has been responsible for the transfer and setting up of truCCOMS® manufacturing in Scotland including the scaling up and enhancing production techniques and processes. Richie is responsibly for production, manufacturing, warehousing, logistics and health and safety and is a member of the Executive Management Team.
