Dr Aws Nashef is the founder of the Company. He graduated with BSc (Hons) Biochemistry in 1969 and achieved his masters (MSc) in 1974 before completing his PhD in Biochemistry in 1977. He has over 30 years’ experience in product development, operations and management of biomedical devices at American Hospital Supply Inc, Baxter Inc, AMI-Med Inc, AorTech International Ltd and Omega Critical Care Ltd. He has extensive experience in the Cardiovascular Surgery market, particularly heart valve development and cardiac output monitoring. He is author and co-author of twenty publications and eighteen issued patents. Dr. Nashef has successfully completed courses in executive management and development at The Wharton School in Philadelphia. He is member of various professional societies worldwide.
He founded Omega Critical Care Ltd in 2003 and was responsible in raising funding to bring the company into its current pre-commercialisation phase. Dr Nashef is responsible for all clinical studies and product development programmes.
Dr Nashef returned to the US in July 2007 to prepare the market for our intended US launch in 2008. He is working closely with clinical reference sites and with key Opinion Leaders to demonstrate the advantages and clinical benefits of real-time continuous cardiac output monitoring using truCCOMS. As well as being responsible for global product development he supports product performance and market share expansion strategies by assisting the sales specialists teams globally.
Lucio is a member of Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland. After qualifying he remained in the profession with Peat, Marwick, Mitchell (KPMG) for an initial 3 years. Lucio left the profession after being invited to join a Client Company. He has early commercial experience with several companies including William Baird, J & P. Coats and Toshiba (U.K.) Limited serving as financial controller and company secretary working closely with executive management.
He joined Hillsdown Holdings Plc in 1988 where he remained until 2005. During his initial years with the group he was assigned to various subsidiaries where the group had decided to realign the company strategy. This enhanced his commercial awareness and he experienced constantly changing business environments at close hand. He was appointed as Finance Director of the By-Products division of Strong & Fisher plc in 1992 and subsequently was appointed as Group Finance Director of the company in 1997. Later that year he was part of a successful team that executed the management buyout of the company from Hillsdown Holdings Plc to form Argent By–Products Group Limited, a group with £130 million turnover and 800 employees.
